Ep80 – Breaking the Cycle of Codependence with Jessica

March 29, 2021

As the daughter of an alcoholic, Jessica had plenty of experience with codependence. When her husband’s drinking was spiralling out of control, she had to make unimaginably difficult decisions with her family’s survival hanging in the balance. Alcohol abuse and a compulsive need to control are such a common story, but one we don’t talk enough about.

Jessica joins Sheri and Matt to talk about the trauma her family suffered, and the progress they are all making in recovery. And now Jessica is using her experiences and her passion to save lives. Here is a link to information about the safe gun storage Jessica emphasizes.

If you love or loved an alcoholic, and your recovery could benefit from connection with people who understand, please check out our Echoes of Recovery program.

  1. This one really hit me in the heart as it’s how my husband’s alcoholism progressed and having the same childhood back story. Everything Jessica talked about, I was walking in her shoes and at times I cried. The only one thing I didn’t do was tell my husband’s work but I did go and talk to his doctor on my own. We thankfully are also in recovery. Thank you Jessica for sharing your story and I wish you and your family health and happiness always.

    • Thank you for listening. Your feedback is much appreciated, and we are behind you all the way in your recovery!
